Our Mission |
|
The mission of the Episcopal Metropolitan
Ministry is to receive with dignity and respect all who come to us
by providing the emotional, spiritual and physical help needed.
We offer clients the opportunity to gain deeper faith in themselves,
their God and in hope for a future as independent, contributing
members of the community. |
|
|
|
How we help those in need |
|
Episcopal Metropolitan Ministry provides emergency
financial assistance to our clients in the form of utility
assistance, rent assistance, food vouchers, gas vouchers and
prescription assistance. |
|
|
|
In 2006 we distributed nearly $120,000 in utility
assistance. By helping clients pay their overdue bills and
negotiating with utility companies on their behalf, we help clients
avoid interruption of service and costly reconnection fees. |

We also offer rent assistance between the 1st and
the 15th of the month primarily to low income housing residents.
We provide food vouchers to fixed income clients to reduce their
monthly living expenses. Vouchers allow clients to go to the
Chattanooga Area Food Bank
and receive approximately $70 worth of food and household
items. We provide gas vouchers redeemable at an area gas
station to clients for emergency or employment related travel.
The high cost of medicine and reductions in
insurance coverage has led to our latest service, the
prescription assistance program. We help clients by
initially paying for their prescription through affiliated
pharmacies and then by offering them further information
about long term prescription assistance programs. |
