About ECSET

In cooperation with its Member Churches, elected representatives and the Bishop of the Diocese of East Tennessee, ECSET seeks to strengthen the ministry of the Episcopal Church by promoting fellowship and communication among member congregations and by providing financial and/or spiritual support for initiatives in the ECSET area. ECSET initiatives include the Metropolitan Ministry, Campus Ministry, St. Barnabas Nursing Home, ECSET Youth Ministries, new worshipping communities, parishes with extraordinary needs and other projects as approved by the general members and the Board Members.

ECSET and the Episcopal Metropolitan Ministry have taken to bold step to become separate ministries after 30 years of combined service.

"This is an exciting time, when ECSET can begin the work of proudly presenting a diploma to yet another ministry it gave wings to. EMM is one of many such agencies that owes their beginnings to ECSET, including St. Barnabas, the Food Bank, and the Community Kitchen. "

- Rebecca Whelchel, Episcopal Metropolitan Ministry Executive Director

ECSET's quarterly newsletter ECSETera  is an informative guide to what is going on among the Episcopal churches in the Southeast Tennessee & Northwest Georgia area.  It also covers area ministries in which ECSET is involved and and upcoming events.

Do you have a story of general interest to share with the ECSET community? Send it to ECSETera editor Rich Bailey. Stories may be edited or reduced to accommodate space requirements in the newsletter. Full story versions will appear online.

ECSET brings together eighteen Episcopal  Member Churches in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. We believe that together we can do much more than each can do independently.  ECSET looks for new ways in which to engage member churches in common goals.

In 2006 member churches united to fund and build ECSET House in association with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga.

Also in 2006, ECSET hosted the 22nd Diocesan convention in Chattanooga.
